YBL Announces our Fall Breakfast
Friday, Sept. 10th at 6:30am @ the VBC North Hall
Our Distinguished Speaker: Todd Peterson
Mr Peterson grew up in Georgia. Upon graduating from Valdosta H.S., he attended and lettered in football at the U.S. Naval Academy in 1988 and ’89 before transferring to the University of Georgia in 1990. He graduated with a BBA in Banking & Finance in 1993 and his senior season was named UGA’s first GTE Academic All-America. He was also initiated into Sphinx, the University of Georgia’s highest honor.
In 1993 Mr. Peterson was an NFL 7th round draft choice which led to 12 years of pro football with stops in Seattle, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and finally Atlanta. Along the way, Todd set a number of team records and held a couple of NFL records – one of which has since been broken (most 40 yd FGs in a season). Over the course of his NFL career he was named the NFL’s True Value Man of the Year for the Seahawks in 1996, and twice received the NFL Players Association’s Byron “Whizzer” White Award for excellence in character and leadership on his respective teams. For his character he was twice nominated for the NFL’s Bart Starr Award awarded annually at the Super Bowl AIA breakfast. Peterson retired in 2006 as one of only 34 players in history to score over 1000 points. He also holds the NFL record for being the only player in NFL history to make game winning field goals for five or more different teams. During his career he served three different terms on the NFLPA’s Board.
Peterson has a passion for helping younger athletes understand the enormous opportunities presented to them through sport and especially enjoys working with young pros who seek to make the most of the influence their career will afford them over time. He currently lives in North Atlanta with his wife and 2 children.
We invite you and a guest to hear and meet Todd as he talks about true success on and off the field—as well as, how his faith has sustained him throughout his life and career. Tickets are $15/ea. or tables of 8 are $120. Registration is required before Tuesday, Sept.7th at noon.
